Was wondering if any of you guys were going to be tubing Lake Meade this sat? A few friends and myself were thinking about hitting either Meade or Willow for a quick morning float. Any opinions and is anyone else going to be out there?

I am heading out to Kolob for my last trip of the year. Good luck and have fun. Maybe next time I will check it out.

Why last trip? There are plenty of good trips to be had still. As the temp drops the trout fishing should start to go off.

Well, went to gov wash area with a friend and we floated the coves. Looks to be a early bite. Bait looked like it was working really well saw a few full stringers of stripers unfortunately they were not taking flies or streamers and was getting meter marks in 20 to 30 ft. There were rises nearby just could not get them to chew. All I will say is the water is pretty low and be careful driving in washes.

Kolob was excellent caught a lot of trout for the amount of time we fished (wind blew hard most of sat). Fished the flats on the northside. Now is diffinetly the time to get up there. Olive crystal woolies that I have tied with a sparkle chenel was nailing them.
Winter comes pretty early up there and I have a deer tag to fill so I will more then likely not make it back up.
Would really like to give mead a try on my toon. I really miss getting out and flippin a fly in the winter. I fish down at Cottonwood a few times in the winter but not on my toon.

Good luck with the dear tag. I got an elk tag this season so I will be heading up to hopefully bag one. Im glad its an early tag so I can get back to fishing. I love the winter time. Our little crew will regularly head out on winter fishing trips end up camping some times in snow the trout seem to be more active and we dont have to worry about mosquitos. Any size to those trouts?

Elk nice, bull or cow: what unit? Good luck with that. I have early 22 I have never hunted that area but I can't wait to go.

Average was probably 18" I caught one at 20+. My buddy caught a nice 20+ cutthroat. Where do you go in the winter? I perfer fishing spring and fall. Trout don't put up quite the same fight in the winter. But none the less I like to catch them any time I can.

Usually we go to the sierras, arizona, and utah. Last winter we were fishing the green river and it snowed all night on us. It was an awesome sight contrasted against the red cliffs. oh I got a cow for 21. every been in the area? I would like to hit the ruby mtns at some point but thats a long trip.

The green is on my list I would also like to hit the San Juan. I am making plans to go into the Sierras next summer.

I have not hunted 21. This is only my second draw here in NV. I hunted 11 acouple years ago and seen tons of Elk just above Cave Lake. Checkout Nevadahunters.com there may be some guys there that might have some info...Good Luck

I have several routes drawn up so hopefully they pan out. San Juan sounds like fun. I hope to make a trip to the Ruby Marshes after the weather drops a bit. Nevada hunters looked kinda empty? The green river would be good to fish during the cicada hatch. We were up there and no kidding it is an aquarium you can see tons of fish sitting about and we caught a bad front during our two days up there so fishing was a little make that a lot slow. It would be a place to fish but after doing it I think I will focus on other waters. Are you going to get a guide or float it yourself? We almost went to lees ferry this weekend but somethings came up so that trip will be postponed.

I would like to float the Green myself. I really enjoy floating on my toon. I try to get up each year and float the Southfork of the Snake river. I love the canyon section even if the fishing is slow. I have a good friend that has fished lee's but you need a boat to get in there. Last time he went he was so discusted with the guides I can't get him to take me. I have not been up to the northern part of the state. Cave is as far as I have been. I usually figure if I go that far I may as well go to the Snake.

what kind of toon do you have? I ended up with a water skeeter and I have been very happy with it so far.

I have the colorado. It has been a good toon so far. There have been some problems with them but I have not had any. A couple of friends of mine have had problems. But the customer service at classic accessories (maker of the boat) are incredible and have replaced every part that has had an issue.

My next one will probably be a Dave Scadden (North Fork) boat. A little more money but they are well built and have lifetime warranties

Have you ever thrown a trolling motor on one of those toons? Ive always thought they would be cool with a motor... Hell maybe a 5 hp outboard? [shocked][shocked] [Wink]

Many people put electric motors on them. I don't have one on mine. Really don't need it unless you are going somewhere that is to far to row. But they really become handy when the wind kicks up and you need to get back to shore. In most states as is NV if you attach a motor to it it must be registered whether it is elec or gas powered
