Helllo All,
I just recieved the email below and though I would post it herte to introduce this member to our forums. Any help is greatly appreciated:

Hi my name is Shane, and I am a new fisherman. I used to fish a ton as a child, but haven’t since I was about 14 (I am now 31). I got your email off of bigfishtackle.com. My son has shown a lot of interested in fishing, and is 6. I got us set up, and am going to take him out this weekend to fish for Salmon. We are Vancouver WA, and I would love if you could give me some advice. I used to use crawfish as bait for Chinook. As I recall I would bait the tail. Crush the thorax, and toss it upstream and follow it with the tail. I have done a little reading, and have seen a lot of people using eggs. Do you have any advice, or websites that would be helpful? I would like to have a few options with bait. I really want to encourage my son, and think bringing home a salmon would go a long way to helping along his love for the outdoors.

Hello all,

I sent the email above, and could use a hand. It's been so long since I fished, and I not only want to get my son involved, but learn more myself.

Thanks,
Shane

Try this link, they know their stuff. My uncle uses it on the Whillamet and Columbia and outfishes the locals to the point that they threaten him on a daily basis.[sly]

Hey Shane,

I also live in Vancouver!
I do not go out for salmon because I do not know how and it is a bit more expensive than I like. I do fish Lacamas and Round lake from my canoe and from my pontoon. I catch a lot of bluegill and a few crappie and small bass.
I took my son out to Round in the canoe for his first fishing adventour and he really loved it...first fish, biggest fish and lots of fish, mostly just dinks, but fun none the less.
I have also been to Battle Ground and Fargher and other small water around Clark County. I do not get out as much as I want to, but there is some good fishing opportunities around here.
I have not gone yet, but I read an article about the series of small lakes (ponds) along the Mighty Columbia as you head east on Hwy 14. Suppose to be a lot of bass. If you PM me I can send you a link to the article.
There is a local web site called Washington Lakes that is helpful with reports. The rest of the site is a little hostile to any new ideas, but the reports are helpful.
