I was up at Henry's yesterday and had a good time, mostly. The weather initially was very calm and pretty sunny, then around noon it got a little windy and looked like it might send some storm clouds in. About 4 it rained a little and the wind had picked up and had some pretty good gusts. We were about to head in with the boat d/t the wind but the fish started hitting and since we were only about 75 yds from the dock we waited it out and it calmed down and was very nice again until we left at 6.
Fishing we couldn't get the freaking motor going for about 1/2 an hour in the morning. When some guys hooked 3 fish in a row on flies (sry, don't know what kind) we gave up and used the electric and stayed close to shore. We landed 3 in the 16 inch range trolling towards the cliffs. 2 were on a 1/4 oz PM black and yellow w/ a small piece or worm. The other was on a walleye rigged worm below a blue spin 'n glow. Just as we get to the cliffs the motor looses power, apparently the battery isn't holding much of a charge for some reason. We did get the main motor going at this time and headed towards the dock where we fished about 100 yds from the dock. We immediately started hooking them on worms about 3 ft below a bobber. Best one topped 5 lbs. Most were in the 17" range. Later throwing heavy metal lures with holographic tape and using a very erractic retrieve with frequent short pauses worked very well. We did catch one close to shore using a leach pattern w/ a chironomid dropper (it hit the dropper). Final tally was around 20fish landed plus a few more strikes that we didn't land. Overall, a good day.
We did see a fair number of people fishing from shore with worms, flies and lures, but the only people that seemed to have any luck were those using flies. I'm not sure how those that were in boats further out were doing though.
