Fished for 3 hours on Saturday and 2 hours on Sunday. On Saturday I caught a bunch of 12"ers on leadhead and curly tail jigs in watermelon and champagne. I also caught a couple on a white/chart spinner bate with willow leaf blades. I was fishing mostly near the redrock next to the dam on the ramp side of the lake (opposite from the dunes).

On Sunday I fished for a little bit and hooked a few small ones on the spinner bait and then moved over to the dam to the right of the buoyed off area. I was casting parallel to the rocks about 15-20 feet from the rocks and I caught two nice fish within three or four cranks from the spinnerbait hitting the water. The fish were down deep, but they were coming up fast for that spinnerbait...total reaction bite. One fish was just over 2lbs and the other just under 3.

Man I love Sand Hollow...its almost too easy...

what was the water temp? Seems like the big bass will stay shallow alot longer than the little guys. What a great time of year for bass fishing, nice work.

The water was about 65 at 9-11AM when I was fishing. I was graphing larger fish in 20 feet which coincides with where these impulse strikes were happening...its possible they were cruising shallower, but i never graphed any in the top 10 feet. I love that lake!

I just wish I could find the universal pattern for the bluegill so I could put my 8 year old on them more consistently. I like to use micro-jigs to fish for them there, maybe I need to switch to the live bait.

[Smile] I've fished Northern Utah for 25 years for largemouth and smallmouth but the few times I fished Quail and Sand Hollow I haven't done very well. I am coming down on Saturday with my father in law and wondered where the best place to fish and what we should fish with. We never keep any fish because we want to preserve the fishieries.

Was at Powell last week and caught more largemouth than smallmouth which hasn't happened in many years. The fluke and spinnerbair killed them.

Thanks for your help.
