[cool][#0000ff]Majja and I drove down the LOOOOOOONG ramp at Rock Cliff about 7 AM. Air temp a BRISK 19 degrees and a stout easterly breeze to make it more noticeable. We were joined on the road/ramp by Tlspyder13 and then by MisterCompletely. We all got launched by a little after 7:30. Water temp just a notch over 51...3 degrees cooler than a week ago...and a few inches down in water level.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Spyderman scored first, with a rainbow within the first few minutes. I had a couple of bumps and then I brought in two "cookie cutter" 14 inchers within a few minutes of each other...both on a hot orange fly with some olive crystal chenille on the rear. They were still munching orange, but I could not buy a hit on my orange spinners.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Spyderman kicked off up the north shoreline, to the buoys. He got lost in the mist, but announced over the walkie talkies that he was finding action both on flies and on an orange tube jig. Majja worked around in the same general area I was for awhile and then he moved toward the buoys too...where he DID score a nice bow and several other hits. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I kept changing my fly patterns around, trying some of the different orange concoctions I turned out on the bench this week. A "Halloween Bugger"...with black body and hackle and hot orange tail...was a hot producer for a while...going 7 fish in 7 casts during one lively session.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]About 9 AM the east breeze (and ripple) died down and the fish went deeper. I started bottom bouncing in deeper water with my pale perch roadrunner and caught a few more fish. When the west breeze and ripple started up I caught a couple more on flies and then the lake got busy. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]In short order there were several boats all over the end of the RC arm...both trolling and anchored. One of the boaters was BFTer LloydE and his boatmate. They scored a nice mess of bows on the old reliable pop gear and worms. Two other boats...one towing the other...pulled right in behind where I was kicking and anchored within a few feet of me. They began catching trout on bubbles and worms.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Over on the north shore was a bank tangler who had been reeling in fish all morning. We saw him put some in his cooler but never saw him release any. Probably way over his limit. We were gonna call the DWR but forgot when we got back to the car and the phone.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]MisterCompletely stuck with his flyrod all morning and announced that he had caught "a few" as we passed on the water. Spyderman probably caught the most...but I do not know how many. I brought in somewhere between 13 to 15 rainbows...from 14" to 16"...and lost one piggy 20 incher at the tube. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]All in all, a fun morning, with a few fish, but not nearly as active as a week ago. Good to see you guys.[/#0000ff]

Sounds like my kind of fishing and I have some KILLER orange and Black flies (The ones that HENRY's LAKE pigs like)
I would have loved some of that action. could have given the old Force Fins a work out.

Were the flies on a spinning outfit?

Thanks for letting me crash the party. Haven't had that much fun on the water in a long time. The new mares worked great and were so much easier to move around with then my old fins.

I was having so much fun early in that fog I have no idea how many fish I caught today. Was trying to keep track of how many I caught on the new fly I tied during the night vs the tube jig but lost count somewhere at 7 to 8 for the tube jig. Got busy trying to land a couple of doubles and just lost count. Smallest fish of the day was 14 and the largest was just under 20.

Could have left at 10 as I only caught 4 fish after that.

Nice to see Majja again and meet MisterCompletely.

[cool][#0000ff]Most of us WERE fishing the flies behind a water filled bubble...on spinning gear. However, MisterCompletely used a flyrod all day and got a pretty fair count. As he posted on the Utah board, he was also using an orange and black pattern with white rubber hackle on the front.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]There have been several fly flingers on the water recently and they have all been catching fish. Early in the morning the fish are breaking the surface and will take shallow stuff. I caught several yesterday by chucking my bubble toward splashes and then bringing the fly over the recent rise just under the surface.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Too cold for any terrestrials or hatches, but the fish are hungry and hitting anything they see. I suspect that a lot of their surface feeding is on "escaped" power bait or marshmallows. Got a good power bait pattern?[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]It was a pleasant surprise to have you show up. Always good to fish with ya.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Glad you got into the fish so well. Hope it helped you get some sleep later. Fishing is good therapy for a lot of conditions.[/#0000ff]
