My brother, friend, and I decided to head up to Strawberry this morning. We arrived and were on the water at 7:30AM. Surprisingly, it wasn't as cold as I had anticipated.

We ended up catching 8 in the early morning and 7 in the latter portion. 4 of the 15 were rainbows, and the biggest Cutty was 22.5". Three of the four rainbows were about 13" long and the other was about 16".

All were caught while trolling worms (I was on my float tube and my bro and friend were on their raft). My bro and I tried casting out some rapalas but we didn't have any luck with those, I thought we would at least catch one on it.

The fishing was good in the morning but slowed down after about 11:00. I would say a majority of the fish were caught in depths of about 12-18 feet, some coming in shallower depths (my bro caught one in an area that was about 6 feet deep). Overall, not a bad day. We'll be heading up next weekend for sure.

Thanks for posting your report SB1093, sounds like a decent day at the Berry. Were you using any weight to get the rapalas down deeper? WH2

I was using both the Rapala Minnow Rap and the Rapala Sinking with no extra weights. The Rapalas seemed to get down deep enough into the water, maybe I need to reel in faster or simply add some weights to my line, what is your set up when you fish with Rapalas?

Do you have a fish finder on your tube? That would help in finding how deep the fish are hanging and TubeDude is the masters where that is concerned. If you are marking fish is deeper water than your Rapala can normally reach, you could try adding snap weights and the best way for that to work would be for you use a two or three foot leader. Tie a swivel to your main line, with the leader and snap weights, then at the end of the leader attach the rapala. Another lure that I have done well with at the Berry is a flatfish. Hope this help and good luck on your next outing. WH2

Unfortuantely I don't have a fish finder for my tube, but luckily my roommate is heading up with my brother and I tomorrow so we will be able to see how deep the fish are. If the fish are in deeper water, I will rig up a leader for the Rapala. Tomorrow we'll mainly be trolling with worms, because we have had the best success with them. Thanks for the tips and help, I'll post how we do once we are back
