Fished CJ Strike yesterday. Trout fishing had slowed down considerably. Water is still 62 degrees at the surface. Caught 4 nice 'bows, all within a small window, and then nothing. Others were having poor luck also. Finally gave up, and headed to the submerged window, and picked up 20 crappie in about half an hour. We hadn't even taken our warm-water tackle box, and all we had were plain hooks and worms. Those using jigs and crappie
were hooking them two at a time. About the time we were leaving the island, the water exploded with trout, jumping like crazy. The submerged island is something else. Almost all the time we were there, just drifting, the depth locator was almost solid black with fish. We caught bass there as well. In the deeper water surrounding the "island", there are tons of fish on the bottom, in the 80-foot range. Couldn't get them to bite, and have no idea what they are. Fishermen at the south end of the dam were anchored off the dam face and picking up perch. Mike
