I thought I would pass along a good tip an elderly neighbor lady gave me a few years back.
Every fall when I'm getting ready for winter I connect two drained garden hoses to an outside faucet for fire protection. I keep them in a small outside window well right next the faucet.
The thought behind this is I can put a fire out faster with my garden hose long before the fire department gets here. If any of you have a had or seen a fire, the first few minutes are your best chance to get it under control and in the cold weather you have a much higher chance of a fire because of your furance, fire place, heaters, etc.
The reason for using two hoses is for reach. I can get to any room in the house and also the garage. I also have fire extinguishers in the house and garge but better to have plan B if needed.
So does anyone else have any tips for protecting your largest investment ??
