Hit Powell Sat and Sun. Fished Hite targeting Brown and Green Bass.
Great weather and awesome fishing conditions. Billions of shad everywhere we went.
Caught a bunch (at least 40) of Crappie up four mile amongst the brush. Patten seemed to be suspended in 10 feet of water tight against cover. Average size was 12" with the largest fish being 14". Great fun!
Bass fishing was good. Caught 15 plus LM over 1.5 pounds. Biggest going 3.5 pounds. Countless dinks under 1 pound. Only caught a few smallies. Best production came from casting spinner baits in stained water, although the biggest fish hit super spooks.
Saw one boil. Strippers didnt seem to be schooling as much. Found a lot of solitary fish. When we did find a school deep, we spooned with ok success but nothing like what it was in early summer. Caught strippers on Rapala lip less baits in silver and blue finish. Fish we did catch were fat and scrappy. Ended up with 20-30 srtippers over two days mostly as a by-catch.
Also managed to pull in several waleye around the 17" mark.
All fish we caught were in fantastic condition, fat and healthy.
Interesting to note, the crappies and walleyes did not contain shad in their bellies. The strippers on the other hand were loaded with shad.
Ill post some pics if I can get around to it.
