Fished the lake today at the rockpile area. Started off at 7:30am all by myself. Jigged for about an hour and caught one laker about 11lbs. Another boat joined me about 8:45. I caught one more laker about 8 lbs at 9:30, then the bit tapered off, so I started trolling with flatfish/downriggers about 10:30. Caught two cutts in the next two hours. One about 5lbs with a tag (not the UDWR tag, but a tag someone else used. It was a black plastic zip tie put right through the dorsal fin!) Tagging fish is illegal unles the UDWR does it. Anyway, the other cutt was about 1.5 lbs. Nice day. Flat water, about 20 degrees at launch and about 25 at noon. Overcast and light snow on and off throughout the day. Sorry but I didn't have a camera.. Lakers were caught in about 37' of water and the cutts were caught in about 42-47 feet.

Nice day Scott. I was planning on coming up this afternoon but ended up working a 12 hour day. [frown]
I am ready for the white fish action to turn on...........I haven't had a good breakfast since last year when we went out.

were you fishing from a boat? If so were did you launch? did you need chains? Any info on best place to launch with sow on the ground would be greatly appreciated.

Snow???
State Park is snow free.
When it does get snowed in, there are many places that get plowed out to the water for launching.

Thanks for the report Scott. I know a bunch of us are trying to anticipate conditions for the upcoming Salsa Boyz party next Saturday.

The conditions will consist of me and my fishing partner catching large fish on my boat! [

] My fishing partner is ? You will see Saturday morning bright and early.

Sure makes you wonder why anyone would even want to tag a fish....kinda strange and stupid if you ask me.

You will have to get up pretty darn early Saturday morning for me to see anyone but my fishig partner. I plan to be on the water while everyone else is still at the coffee shop!
But you do have me curious as to who will be in your boat with you .... TheAngler, Jason, Adam Eakle, BLM, Jim Williams, ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

The macks should be coming off the spawn. I would expect to see macks still on the rock pile though their numbers will be diminishing. The cutthroat fishing should be on with it getting better and better for the next month or two.
I was out on Bear Lake last Saturday and we caught macks including one double hook up (11 and 13 lbs), and several cutthroats too. Four of the cutts had tags and one was a nice native pushing 5 lbs. If the wind will stay down, your trip should be a lot of fun.

None of these fine fisherman will be with me. I have another fine fisherman with me. He is a newbie on the big blue so beginers luck at the big blue should play in for him. Weather Looks to be sweeet! I will troll past you and you will see who he is. I wonder if anyone got ahold of Adam Eakle and told him we will be up there again?
See ya Saturday[cool] BTW, Bring your sunscreen!
