Reelfast, Wiperslayer and I hit the Berry at 7am this morning. We were one of three other boats that launched about the same time but we were the first to get on the water. It was a fun drive up Danials summit with several semi trucks stopped right in the middle of the road putting chains on, what a mess. We tried several spots before we finally found an active school of cutts. Once we found them, we stayed on them the rest of the day catching a total of 58 before we called it quits around 3:30 pm. Only one was 22 inches the rest were 18 to 20
inches. Water temp was 44*, air temp was 24* when we arrived. Here are a few of the colorful berry cutts. Great day on the Berry, thanks for getting us up there and back safely Dan.

Curt, sounds like you had a decent day of fishing. Ira never looked better, but tell him that he has been under the tanning lights long enough.[Wink]

It was over cast for most of the day, I'm surprised my flash did not work, at least it wasn't a monster fish but it was the largest fish of the day.

Does that mean you followed that school around the rest of the day, since they surely don't remain in one spot?

So you were mostly NOT anchored up?

Maybe that's part of my problem with my only-fair catch rate at the Berry. I am mostly content with dropping anchor and watchin the clouds go by. If a fish runs into my jig, so be it. If not, then I've still had a great day avoiding the never-ending chore list. [fishin]

We pretty much stayed with the same school all day. We were anchored up. We did finally move but after not locating another school we came back to the same spot or close to it. It was amazing the fish stayed in the same spot but the catching did slow down in the afternoon. They were very aggressive when we first arrived but we found they would only lightly bite in the afternoon. We went from aggressive jigging to dead sticking the jigs, just to get bites. I hope this help. WH2

It helps a lot! Thanks. Seems like you too were surprised that the fish stayed in the same spot all day.

But that's good to know it can happen. I prefer to not cruise around a bunch trying to mark fish.

So it looks like I might be able to have my clouds, my cup 'o coffee, my anchor, and jes mebbe some fishies, too.
