The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has set new stocking fees for private ponds. Effective immediately, a 1-acre fertilized pond stocked with both bass and bream will cost $300. All fertilized ponds with bass only will cost $100 per acre; and for corrective restock bass, the cost will be $1.50 per fingerling for 3-5 inches in size. Unfertilized ponds will be $150 per acre for both bass and bream.
The fee structure will be a minimum of $75 for fertilized ponds ¼-surface acre, plus incremental adjustments of $75 for each ¼-surface acre less than 5 surface acres. For ponds larger than 5 surface acres, the fee will increase $300 per acre. Unfertilized ponds ½-acre or larger will be stocked at one-half the cost of the fertilized stocking fee for bass and bream.
This change reflects ADCNR's effort to provide private pond owners bass and bream for an initial stocking based on current market value.
