Using Stren Stamina line on a Penn 16VS reel, Ray Rosher and Team Hostile won the first tournament of the Sailfish Cup out of Miami Beach Marina. Rosher and Team Hostile claimed the event by a mere 12 minutes that came with a prize package of $228,800 and the lead in the Sailfish Pro Series.

Tuesday's leader, Advanced Roofing, released its 20th sailfish of the tournament at 12:19 p.m. Wednesday. But Hostile had released its 20th fish at 12:07 p.m. Neither team scored any more fish before lines-out, so the victory went to Hostile because it got its final fish first.

"A nail-biter," Rosher said. 'They got five in the morning, and we had one. And then we slowly chipped away. When we caught our last one, I said, `no way it's going to hold. "

"Stren Stamina has taken the saltwater tournament series by storm," said Clay Norris, Stren Sr. Marketing Manager. "When money is on the line and bringing in that final fish means the difference between winning and losing, Stren wins the fight."

The Sailfish Pro Series is a new six-event that pits 18 of the top billfishing teams against each other for a $100,000 top prize.

January 9-11, 2009 - Palm Beach, Fla.
