Went up north this weekend for some work, but had one full day to play. Thought of heading further north but the weather looked scary, so stayed in the lower elevations. Here is a little fish porn.
Got a little late start, but the day was perfect ALL DAY.
Water was glass smooth and we were in Sweatshirts:

Started of going south, Poky had several hits, me...nope, so I turned to head east. BAM fish on and felt good till I netted it....BUMMER:

so, I got my throwing arm in shape to see if Poky wanted to take a look at the fish....whoops, he was too far away, he, he, he.

The rest of the day was perfect. SMALL flies were the key. Netted around 15, but had about 12 LDR's right at the front of the toon, so hooked close to 30 in a couple of hours.

Nice 'bows!

What pattern and size were you using? Looks like you tie a loop connection to your fly? What knot?

The first pattern that landed me a few I call a Hasbro Softhackle. It is on a #14 streamer hook and the body & tail is White Marabou. The marabou tips are tied in for tail, then twisted and wrapped up the hook. Then a white hackle tied in for a collar.
The killer fly however was an Olive Crystal by Bill Schiess. It is a #10 nymph hook with weight (lead sub wire) and the body is Olive Crystal Chenille and brown grizzle hackle palmered up the hook. Simple flies.
I do use a loop to connect all flies. I use the surgeon loop.
There is a trick to keep the loop small which I think is very important. Threat the hook, make a loop, and feed the fly through the loop twice. Then stick the eye of the hook in the middle of the loop and tighten slowly. That way you can get a very tiny loop. A little trick I learned to fish #32's with 6X tippet. Loops let you fish heavier tippet on smaller flies but still get movement out of the fly.
