I headed out to BRBR with Kokhead to TRY and find something to shoot at. We never left the truck. There must have been 60 vehicles total all around the impoundment.[pirate]
Screw that, we headed to a spot i thought might have some mallards. We got on a high bluff and started glassing all the water i could see from our vantage point. Not much and then i looked at the closest corner to us and saw a few grebes. I watched for a few minutes and about went through the roof of the truck when 2 wood ducks swam around the corner!! We looked at the situation and figured the only chance was to go through 1/4 mile of the nastiest, wader catching, thorn and olive infested bottoms and come out directly on top of them. Well, after an hour of tripping, snagging, and bleeding, we found ourselves separated by about 75 yards of brush and Kelly couldn't see the ducks. I had the hen pegged at about 50 yards and she knew kelly was there so she jumped and headed away from me for a ways and then did a 180* coming directly towards me but on the opposite side of the river. I shot once and hit behind her! No way was she getting away so i gave another 12" of lead and she crumpled on the other side of the river! It took me 1/2 hour to get across due to nasty holes and deep cuttoffs. I finally got to her and was hooting and hollaring! #4 for me.
We have no idea where the drake went, Kelly would have seen him from where he was at the shots. Clever duck.
Enjoy the pics.[cool]
