Does anyone know where I can find a nice fly tying desk? I am in Idaho but willing to travel to Utah for a nice desk. Please let me know with a pm or on here. Dustin

Are you at all handy? It's simple enough to build your own.
Many years ago, when the only tools I owned were a sabre saw and a drill, I built a tying desk. Less than a full sheet of plywood, it has five drawers for holding tools and materials, and the desktop itself, tailored to my exact needs.
I'm still using it 30 years later.
If I were to build a new one today, the only change I'd make is to have the desktop removable, so I could take it with when I'm on the road.
If you don't have a workshop, no big deal. Most home-improvement centers will cut the wood to your measurements. After that, it's just a matter of screwing the parts together, and painting or staining it to your taste.
You can probably build one, at today's prices, for less than fifty bucks.

Likewise I use my computer desk as a fly tying station. My lighting is great, the height ideal plus if need be I can watch a fly tying video and stop it when necessary.[/size][/#008000][/font]

I am not at all handy, yeah sucks to be my wife. I ruin stuff so fast and it never comes out how I plan. any ways alot of great idea thank alot. I think what I am going to do is try to find some one that can build me a log desk with some other custom features. I know a guy here in my area that does these kinds of things so Ill test my luck that way. Thanks for the links and great ideas.

I have a long fold out table for the base.. and then a multi drawer bin for hooks etc.. and a three drawer roll around storage unit for books and material.. I also have a small fly tying station on the table with the vise and storage for my tools etc.. its not fancy.. but it is functional..

Reminds me of a local company called Handyman Connections or some such, Dustponds. Their advertising slogan: "We fix what your husband repaired."
FFG: Was that photo comment directed at me? If so, I can't oblige. I don't own a digital camera, so can't post pix. But that's likely to change in the next few months, as I really need one for my webpage. When it does, I'll gladly post of shot of the tying desk.

Brook, yes and no....Yes, you need a camera LOL and no, I meant I wanted to see pictures of the custom desk Dust talk of.
I DO have a camera, he, he, he
I tie in the Garage now (since moving in with my dad) Not so bad, it does have a heater, but I prefer a little cool anyway. Quiet also
Here is my desk:

In the drawers are boxes for the flies and some books, plus the immediate material for the flies I am tying at the moment. The Tower is my hooks all labeled to what they are and beads and blades. A magnetic plate on the back wall for razor blades, needles and such. In the back corners are two speakers in which I hook up my Lap Top for a movie while I tie or to look look things up quick.
The tower doesn't stay on the desk while I tie.

I also have the foam spinning wheel for drying flies that need it like my Chironomids.
I do allot of Fly Tying shows, plus take my kit on trips so I have become very mobil.
Here is the tote I carry all my feathers, flash, dubbing, hair, etc all in special baggies so easy to find.

The yellow strip in the middle is a push out drawer which I keep larger beads and cones in:

Finally the vise (with back up behind)

Just an old beat up computer desk[cool]

Thanks bro. It is actually my first real tying station. At my house I tied on the kitchen table between meals[laugh] The Garage over there is not insulated and sits off the house so that wasn't going to work either[crazy]
