So when row trolling I like to keep my tip pretty low to the water. Scotty holders are bulky, expensive, and don't adjust to what I need.

So I built this. Simple and effective. Good for trolling or for holding the rod when unhooking fish, tying on, etc.

Just putting it out there if anyone needs an idea. (Cat optional)



All it needs is a velcro keeper leash "just in case".

I will agree, they are more costy, but I don't think they are bulky.

I am pondering an idea for a standing brace for my boat. Already have a full deck to stand on, but in need of something to lean against or hold on to for balance.

I own that Scotty with the girdle strap clamp, it just doesn't fit anywhere convenient on my 'toon. There's stripping apron and oarlocks up front, and parcel shelf out back.

Funny you should mention the lean bar though. I fished standing on the seat of mine for the first time this weekend and I could've used some extra stability. Lean bar/strap is on the list next as well as some sort of platform other than my seat!

I used to stand on my seat to fish for topwater bass with my flyrod until my pontoon flipped out from under me and I took a swim. It was relatively warm water but highly embarrassing because my friends kept saying that is what was going to happen.

That is a definite worry. On most pontoons that is.
Mine is 11 1/2' long and 5' wide.....pretty stable. I put a deck on it that is 4' X 5'. I have the cloth fold down seat so I can stand on that. I just have bad ears which effects the equilibrium. So I get dizzy just watching the waves at times. So I am working on a upside down "L" bar that I cant set up and hold onto to stand up then lean against it.

I wish I got the picture of a friend that also has a Cardiac Canyon. He was standing on the tubes them self with his feet apart. right in front of the frame so, I know the boat is stable.
