Went up to deep creek today with a friend, hoping that there was enough ice. There was a good solid 3" so game on! It was my first time on the ice this year and we were the only ones on lake [cool] We fished from 830 to 130 and I iced 26 fish, my buddy about 15. We were the only ones on the lake until about noon. The biggest fish was 17" but it was a fatty. We fished in 15ft. of water and they were hitting most anything tipped with meal or wax worm. Look forward to getting back out!

Welcome to the board and thanks for the report! I love Deep Creek and the fishing is great as you mentioned! I have been wanting to get down there, but it is 125 miles for me, but now that I know about the ice it is game on! Those 17-18 inch fish are usually nice and fat. I found if you are there at the crack of dawn, or right after sunset the fishing really picks up.

Sounds Like you got into em pretty good!! Nice Job! I have never fished deep creek before and was wondering if you would share some info? to get to the water edge is it steep or easy walking, the reason I ask is that my wife and nephews go with me alot and so I end up having to throw the tent in. It can get tricky pulling the sled up those long steep edges. Also what are the best area's of the lake for ice fishing? If there is any other info you think might be helpfull about this place please let me know I think we are heading up there on Wensday morning or Friday morning depending on weather. Thanks again

It depends where you fish on deep creek how steep the walk to the water is. If the road is not snowed in then you can go clear down to the boat ramp area and get on easily.

The area off the parking lot by the point is a little steep but I have taken my ice house down ok.

The only real problem I have had is driving in after a storm. The road can be really bad.

Deep Creek can be great fishing, but for easy fishing I think Devils Creek is usually easier.

Lurpmaster, too bad I could come with. Sounds like you had fun. Maybe we'll have to sneak out one night after work to get rid of the itch when you get back from the inlaws. Good luck down south. Merry Christmas.
