I'm thinking of heading up there friday with my nephew. Depending on the weather. So if anyone else is going to head up there please give me a shout and let me know. I'm a rook on that end of the lake, so some guidance would be nice.

Bump! I'm heading out tomorrow morning(sat) and fishing that evening. I'll be hitting lost dog(thanks for the report crawler). So if any one else is going please speak up. It would be nice to buddy up and find where the fish are biting.

I just got back to Salt Lake visiting family in Rock Springs, Wy. I took my ice fishing gear and was going to fish burbot at lost dog, until all the locals talked me into going to fire hole boat ramp. It was much closer to where I was staying. 31 minutes to fire hole, 10 inches of ice, only one other ice fisherman out , unbelivable only 30 minutes to great burbot fishing and nobody there.
Fished during the day because had family plans in the evenings, caught 4 burbot total, first time ever fishing for them. Best to use 3" glow tube jigs with sucker meat.
Filleting these monsters is a new expereince. You cut out the back straps just like you would a deer and then cut out the fillets down towards the tail. No belly meat and they have guts like you never have seen, and don't want to see.
I found that they are pretty easy to catch, you don't even really have to hook them.

My brothers in law and I will be heading to Lost Dog tomorrow (saturday). We will be leaving Vernal around 1 or 2. It should put us on the ice around 4:30-5ish. We are all newbies at Burbot, but we are bringing our fillet knives, garlic, butter and frying pans. You are welcome to come by the tent if you smell cookin' burbot! We will have two Cabela's ice tents hooked together.
