MOBILE, Alabama - Ono's Trading Company, which pioneered polarized sunglasses with bifocal readers, has unveiled a new lightweight titanium model -- Longitude -- featuring hinged and flex-form temple pieces that remember the best fit for each wearer.

Like all frame styles and 43 models in the Ono's Trading Company catalog, Longitude lenses feature 100 percent UVA-UVB polarized protection with built-in, bifocal magnifiers for reading and other close-up tasks. The upper portion of the lens are for normal distance vision or vision corrected by bifocals.

Priced at less than $150, Ono's Longitude model features low profile bifocals with 1.50, 2.00, and 2.50 magnification. Soft plastic, non-slip nose pads and handmade acetate end tips provide additional comfort. Longitude models, finished in a fashionable gun-metal matte color, also come with a leather case and a lens cleaning cloth. Ono's international retail network including stores, catalogs and web sites is searchable on the company website, http://www.onostradingcompany.com/.

Patented technology is employed to produce the unique sunglasses, which replace awkward-in-the-outdoors alternatives like drug-store readers, clip-ons, flip-ups, stick-ons and oversized dark glasses designed to be worn over other glasses.

Longitude joins the Latitude and Schooner in Ono's titanium series. Unlike Latitude and Schooner, which are rimless, the Longitude model fully wraps the scratch-resistant polycarbonate grey lenses with titanium frames for an updated fashion look and added lens protection. Ono's has treated the lenses of Longitude, Latitude and Schooner models with a special hydrophobic coating to resist fogging and to repel rain, sunscreen and other oils, perspiration and dirt,

"They say that 60 is the new 40 and that 40 is the new 20, but there are two big problems with that - aging eyes," said Chris Nelson, Ono's National Sales Manager. "There are more than 130 million people in the U.S. and Europe over the age of 40 and nearly every one of them has aging eyes. They need to know that Ono's sunglasses will let them continue to enjoy the outdoors, to see close up and far away, and to do everything they want to do in the great outdoors plus look darn good doing it."

Longitude, Latitude and Schooner join seven other models from Ono's with magnification ranging from 1.50 to 2.50. Breton, Curlew, Carabelle, Oak Harbor, Grand Gosier, Vieux Carré, and Harbor Docks feature memory-flex TR-90 frames with CR-39 lens for 100 percent UVA/UVB protection.

Ono's stylish frames are typically available with grey, amber or blue-mirror lenses. Nelson said amber lenses provide brighter field and more color contrast and often are preferred, for example, by snow skiers and snowmobilers on cloudy days and by shallow water sight-fishing anglers who want to see fish and underwater features more distinctly. Others prefer grey lenses, such as at a sporting event, because of accurate color transmission. Blue mirror lenses are ideal for use in highly-reflective conditions such as on the deck of a cruise ship or a ski slope on a sunny day.
