Hit Roberts with my kids and my neighbors kids. The fishing for small 4-7" perch was hot and never really let up. There were no magic jigs everything seemed to be working from a plain hook and meal worm to small tear drop micro jigs.

We kept around 260 perch trying to thin the population a bit.[:p]

It took three of us two hours to fillet all those perch but we had a wonderful perch fry afterwards. (See Pics).

If any of you have kids that need to get into some fish head to Roberts. Use light line and small jigs with mealworms.

That pile of grub looks GOOD! Those kids faces tell the whole story.
Do you eat the small bones left or remove them? The reason i ask is perch that size are hard to fillet and get 100% boneless without alot of tedious work.

It is a lot of work but I do cut out the rib cage. I use a very small flexible fillet knife that works pretty well on small fish. I worked in an Alaskan Salmon Cannary for three summers so I got pretty good with a knife.

Usually we go to Mudlake for a little bigger perch but I think it had a total winter kill last year I cant find them. So until Ririe freezes Roberts is all we have locally for a perch fry.

Merry Christmas
