How was everyones Christmas? If you live in Utah, chances are you didn't go fishing Christmas day....SNOW and WIND!

I got a new 7' ultralight rod. Also got a calendar of fishing. Today bought myself a new grill that goes on the back of my truck. I had so many coupons and discounts that I got it for $35. I was thinking of picking up a fly rod outfit from dicks that comes with the line and everything, but I don't know if those are worth messing with or not.

What exactly is the Outfit at Dicks? You don't need an expensive rod to catch fish, just one that feels good to you.
I started out on a inexpensive set up. I fell in love with it and each year I upgraded.
Is there a name on that Utra Light? I have a custom 7' Ultra built on a St. Croix blank I think....it is a reddish blank, real pretty.

I'm not sure of the brand of the fly rod. It comes with rod, reel, line and some flies. I think it might be a mitchell. Not sure. The grill is a barrel smoker that attatches to the trailer hitch.
As for the other rod, it's a shakespere agility IM8. It's cheap but I like it. It's got very fast action and should make a blue gill feel like a whale. :-)

Like a Whale...I like that, and that it will. Playing around once I was using an ice fishing pole on a slow moving river. Was hooking nice size bass...what a blast!
Trust me, you will get that same feeling with a fly outfit.

..the only thing fishing related that I got for Christmas was a nice spiral bound map book of 430 lakes here in Ca.. each one has a map of the lake.. and a list of it facilities, fish species etc.. and where it is located.. now I have maps of all the lakes I dream of fishing some day.. [sly]

Right On Mac. Those are awesome. I have the "Fly Fishers Guide" books to Wyoming, Clororado, Montana, Idaho and Utah....they are a must. They are like a GPS too. They tell you how to get there and even how many miles from closes town.

Fishing and Hiking have been the only two hobbies that my wife supports me in doing.

Santa brought me a new ODC 420, it should be delivered any day. Unfortunately everything is locked up in Colorado right now, might have to try a forebay.
I don't thing the tail water fisherman would appreciate me floating through their drifts. It's a long way until April but that will give me time to trick it out.
