Would any of you know where I could buy my kids a couple of down hill sleds. I'm new to the area as most of you know, so I don't know a lot of the stores and the kids want to go sleding at a hill by the house. Thanks for any ideas.

I have used the Jet Sleds and they work great; however, they work too well if anything. I took my grandkids to a popular local hill on New Year's Eve and we proceeded to slide down the hill on the Jet Sleds (I own all three sizes) and they were going further and faster than any of the other sleds used by the other sledders. Unfortunately, one went so fast that my grandson fractured his arm when the sled landed after going over a bump.[frown] I was mad at myself for taking them on a hill that was so slick and icy.

Sorry Kent but I couldn't help but laugh when I read that. [pirate] Reminds me of when I was younger. I'm going to have to go sledding with the kiddos.

Make sure you make your kids wear helmets it is a must when sledding . It will prevent head injuries .

My son likes tubes better. Just a thought.

Look in the toy dept. at Wal Mart or K Mart. I'll bet you can find those little plastic sleds. Good luck & that helmet suggestion is a good one. Close to 60 yrs ago one of my little brothers got a fractured skull while sledding & we almost lost him.

Tubes are definately the way to go. More forgiving on your sitting end, and most times faster. We used to steal my grandpa's tractor tubes and go. Car ones work just fine too, you just cant put 18 kids on one.

Tubes can be purchased at many tire dealerships (call ahead as they often sell out). Sleds can be tricky once they start selling out too, many stores don't stock up on them well. We have a long bright green sled that will hold the whole fam, and works great for ice fishing too! And as mentioned-don't forget the helmets!
