It has been below zero up there last night and should be again tonight. Hopefully BLFG will get in on this and keep us informed.

I know in recent years we have had ice on Bear lake but it seems to me that was not the case for many years in the past. I'll be interested in what Scott has to say about this but I'm sure Global Warming has something to do with it[]. If I remember correctly we should start seeing some cisco moving in close to the shore around the 17th to the
19th of Jan. I guess it depends on the year but those are the dates that I remember. Can't wait for the Cisco Disco.

I talked to Scott last week and asked that very question, he told not to expect to see any ice until after the Cisco run. If even then.

Thank you all. I think the temp this morning was -18 over at Bear Lake. THAT should get it to start freezing. I think my wife and I are going to head up to Mantua in a bit. I took her up New Years day thinking I was going to show her up and she caught 5 rainbows like 5 feet away from me and I caught nothing. I'll think twice about showing her my tricks next time. LOL Good fishing to you all. []

Ah, but the real question here is what condition is the marina in? Is the ramp being plowed? Are the bubblers on and keeping it passable or is it frozen and useless? I hate to launch at Cisco Beach. It's a real SOB if and when that wind kicks up. With no shelter from the wind and waves, it can be risky trying to get someone back to the dock or putting the boat on the trailer in snotty conditions.

Completely open as of last Sunday...........
Caught a small cutt from the marina breakwater in the morning. Bubblers were going and the ramp was plowed.
Couldn't make it up there this weekend but I hope it stays open water for at least the cisco run.

Thanks for the info, Pat. I've been wanting to get up there but every opportunity I've had, the weather has been terrible! Plus getting to the boat has been a chore with all the snow. Today would of been the day! Maybe this next weekend!

Let's bring this back to to front. I doubt it is frozen over yet but it's worth asking....Anyone have any new updates on the conditions at bear lake?

Look on www.bearlakeweather.com there is a live weather camera looking at the lake. Its right out my office window. It gives all current weather and past weather. No ICE will be awhile

We have been spoiled the last few years. Bear Lake does not usually freeze over.
I would be shopping for waders.

Going up in the morning, I will make a post after my survey.
Got to go plow snow and shovel the roof off. Then it's fishing time for the rest of the weekend![]
Open water is a good thing for me, ice fishing is waaaay to hard on my body. I would rather chunk lures and long line a cisco from shore.
