So I am heading out tomorrow to Strawberry. I have had some very good days there, but my last trip was a bit slow at my usual spot around the marina. I was thinking about trying out chicken creek or the ladders instead. Does anyone have any advice on where I should go? Should I stay with the same old same old? or should I head over to some new fishing grounds (chicken creek or the ladders)?

chicken creek was slow for me and my crew on sat and for most of the people i chatted with as well, i fished closer to the marina a few days prior and it was a bit better. most reports have said around 20 feet of water and the fish are suspending in about ten feet, and that has been my experience as well. good luck!

I had a slow day at the marina on Sunday, 4 fish in four hours. I packed up and met a co-worker at CCE and it was slightly better but still freezing cold. I picked up 4 more fish by 3 PM then headed out. Without my friends help I would have been lost at CCE. Not a lot of experience in that portion of the lake. He also convinced me to try a large white tube jig which dramatically improved the quality of the bite. Most fish caught were either on the bottom or within 8 feet of the hole. I still prefer the Marina area but I was impressed at CCE and will fish there again in the future.

I was at chicken creek a couple days ago and it was slow for me and my "A.D.D" buddy, (he can't sit still for a second) Great entertainment when cramped in a small ice shack. However he did try everything in our tackle boxes at least twice. We only caught five between the two of us. The biggest was caught off the bottom with a full worm on a white jig head. Bounced it off the bottom and WHAM! the best bite all day. Most likely a fluke but I like to think that I out smarted the big guy. Three others were caught on glow in the dark gizzy bugs tipped with wax worm.
