My wife is leaving town early Friday morning, so there goes my fishing partner. I've always wanted to go to Jordanelle and hunt down some smallies. I tried off the shore once a few years ago, but all I ended up catching was a little 7" smallie and a chub. I've got a canoe with a little elec motor, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it over to the east shore from the boat launch (unless anyone knows of a place on that side of the lake that I could get close enough to launch). If not, is there any decent bass fishing in those bays on the north and west sides? Any tips on what to use and how to fish it? I was thinking of going with curly tails...maybe 3" or so...think that is too big? What else do you think I should try? Would a Texas rigged plastic worm be any good?

I'd really like to go out with someone. Fishing is always more fun with one more....and you can never have too many fishing buddies.

PS How do I get one of those snazy fish logos under my name? ;-)

Hey Jack, welcome to the site. You should launch your canoe from the Rock Cliff side of Jordanelle. It is on the east side where the Provo River enters the reservoir. Once you enter the state park just stay on the road that enters the park and eventually it will dead end when it hits the water. You could easily launch from there and reach some places to try from your canoe. While you are there take the time to explore the park. They have a maze of boardwalks back through the trees.
