Does anyone know how the ice fishing at night is at deep creek or weston resevoir. I am really wanting to stay the night on the ice and my uncle and i are thinking about doing it. Any updates or tips for night fishing would be awesome.

Scroll back and find my report on 24 hours at Deep Creek! Bottom line night fishing is awesome! Do yourself a favor and be set up by 4:00 pm; the last hour of day light is usually good, and be up early for the morning bite. I was catching fish till 9:00 pm before I went to sleep. As far as Weston; I have read the reports that it has not fished well; focus on Deep!
Good Luck and welcome to the lantern club!

I would have to agree with OvidCreek, focus on Deep. The best fishing I've had there has been early and right before I head home. I've not stayed to fish much after dark, but late evening has been worth staying for. Mid day is a good time to catch-up on some sleep you lost the night before though. My honest opinion, don't waste your time going to Weston, but that's just me.

I have not ice fished at night but I have fished after dark for steelhead. I would try to have some glow in the dark jigs and use an old camera flash to charge them. Cover the flash and jig with something before you touch off the flash so you don't see spots all night. I would also use some kind of bait on the jig so you have a combination of sight and smell to attract the trout. Maybe just the lantern in the ice shelter will be enough but I think glow jigs will also help.

I often go fish Arrowrock Res. on this side of the state in the early morning long before the first sign of daylight. I watch my poles by means of my headlights. I usually have close to a limit by the time everyone else shows up. The bite typically ends when the sun comes up. I always outfish the late arrivers, who can't figure out why I have a limit. I don't typically tell them when I arrived. I have become a real believer in night fishing! The trout are not only active, but they are much more aggressive on the bite. Mike

I've spent multiple nights on multiple different lakes, but never on Deep creek. A reservoir that is similar that I do have experience on at night is Treasureton. I've had no fish nights and non stop action for hours. It just depends on the night. I echo the suggestions on getting there early and scouting it out a bit. Good luck and post us a report.

Put an old flash from a camera in a small cardboard box lined with tinfoil. This will make your jigs glow like crazy and it is easier on the eyes. We have done this when fishing really deep in Bear Lake even in the daytime. Make sure the wires aren't touching the foil it can give one heck of a shock ( learned from experience [shocked] ).
