[size 2]Chainsaw Safety Training For The Novice And Amateur
The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will offer a program for novice and amateur chainsaw operators on Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Goodwin Forest Conservation Education Center in Hampton, Connecticut.
The program is for people who wish to improve their skills and operate their saw safely. Participants bring their own saws, practice the skills they are taught and have the opportunity to fell trees under the guidance of a professional instructor.
Topics covered include personal protective equipment, routine saw maintenance, chain sharpening, notching and boring techniques, safe felling practices, using wedges, limbing, and handling difficult trees.
The program is taught by Bill Girard, a full-time logger for over 25 years and a Certified Instructor of the world-renowned "Game of Logging" program.
