Anyone have any ideas for portable fishfinder? I am looking for something that has its own battery pack.

I have a fishing buddy, its an old one but it works ok. I heard that they have advanced alot since i have bought mine. Might be a good option. It runs on 3 "C" cell batteries. It is all self contained. They are reasonably priced too. All your major Sporting goods stores carry them. So check them out to see if it is what you had in mind.

A couple of friends use Humminbird and they make a few different models. There are 4 different models of Fishin Buddy that work real well.
