Hit Pineview Friday in hopes of finding crappie. Hit the ice at 7:15 with a balmy 12 degrees. Ice is in great shape, but that is pretty much the end of the good news in this post. Saw fish on sonar but they had lock jaw. Fished until 3 in the afternoon and managed 8 perch with 3 of those volunteering to become bait due to their enormous size. 5". The bite was very light. Fished the narrows from near the dam all the way back to the bay with pretty much the same results. Everybody else I talked to had the same luck. As I was leaving a guy told me he caught 22 perch near cemetary point but didnt see the fish. At any rate I would cross the narrows of my fishing list.

Sounds like a rough day up there. Most reports are of people not doing so well. I hope it picks back up.

Hey Brent,
James and I missed you by a couple of hours.
We fished the narrows until midnight last night. I caught one small crappie right off and then neither one of us caught anything or even had a bite until we left.
SLOW, SLOW SLOW.
We talked to a group coming off the ice near Cemetary Point and one in the group caught a mess of very nice crappie.
That got us very excited but it wasn't to be.

Did you and James hit the narrows too??? Im thinking maybe Yuba again next week or might venture down to Pelican. The few fish we did catch were a very light almost invisible bite. most didnt even move the strike indicator.

Playas44, you said that someone caught some nice crappie at Cemetary point, Do you know if that was on the north or south side? Perch are fun but I want some Crappie, Thanks.

Crappies are being taken on the north side of the point.

We hit the narrows right out from the caretakers house. We talked with one other group there, they only had one crappie and one perch.
We could see fish on the finder both on the bottom at 48 feet and about 25 feet. They would come up to the jig and then go right back down.
If they were hitting, we never noticed it.

They were on the north side. Frozenover and I tried over there for a short time.
We had heard so much about the narrows that we couldn't wait to get over there.
We should have stayed around the point and explored the area a bit more.
The guy coming up out of there showed us two of the fish he caught and they were very nice sized fish.
The crappie I caught was the first one I have ever caught.
I sure want to get into them.
