My son and I arrived at deer creek about 7:40, parked at the state park and went out to the north west side of the island. We only checked the ice once on the way out since we were following other sled tracks, ice was 6"-7" there and where we fished. Fishing was pretty slow for everyone around the island. We used green and pink jigs with half a nightcrawler in 8 feet of water. Only marked a few fish every half hour or so on the fish finder, but most of them would bite, some lightly and others nearly pulled the pole in. We caught five between 13 and 16 inches, and had three others that came off on the way up. Temperature was 10 when we arrived and 23 when we left at 12:30. There was still a large section of open water out in front of the first state park entrance coming from Provo.
