Hit pineview this afternoon (truth). Had the damnedest thing happen. I was lowering my new Fish TV camera which is shaped like a little short fat silver fish & a big tiger thought so too. It grabbed it head on just like that cut did coldfooters camera up at the berry a couple years ago. It gave the cable one he--uva yank, realized its mistake & split. Don't think I've ever come closer to wetting my pants without actually doing so. (Call it a lie if you want to, I know better).
Found a bunch of perch just to the north of the Cemetery beach parking lot. About 35' - 38'. Interesting thing was before I got into the keeper perch I was probably 200 yd. to the east where the tiger struck & when I got the camera to the bottom there were perch everywhere. It wasn't until I got the camera turned & found my jig that I learned how small they were. I was using a teardrop (size 10 or 12 hook) & a wax worm. My bait was as big as some of them & not a lot smaller than the rest. There would be a school of them come by about a foot off the bottom & my fish finder would just chart a solid line. There must have been one heckuva perch spawn there last spring.
A lot of the keeper perch I caught were spitting up these little baby perch so I'm kinda enthusiastic for next winter. Spect there might be some really nice perch caught. Those I caught & kept (20) weren't quite Yuba quality but they would give Rockports best a run for the money. Smallest was about 8" & biggest pushing on 12" but not quite. I think I actually caught three year classes. Those pushing 12" Some between 8 & 10" then some 6" or a little less.
All in all an enjoyable afternoon. Wish I'd have had some company to verify that tiger attack & to BS with but I didn't even decide to go until about 11:00 so I figured it would be a waste of time calling around.
