Spent a cold saturday morning in the narrows at pineview with nothing to show for it.

Sunday went to Echo with my little brother and halfway through drilling our second hole my brand new (got it for christmas--5th trip) gas auger stopped with a clunk!
Lucky for us we were able to borrow a hand auger from two guys to finish our second hole--where we proceeded to get skunked.

If you're on here and see this I just want to say thanks again for letting us borrow your auger!!
Sorry to hear about you're auger[frown]. What brand is it?

Jiffy Model 30 10". I got it taken back to the store I got it from (just a little local store back home in Richfield) they're gonna take a look at it today and see if they can fix it or if it has to be sent in--thank goodness for warranties!!
Well hopefully Barney can fix it and we can go pick it up this weekend and go out--Lance wants to go with us again too.
[frown]sorry to hear about your auger. I'm not a certified small engine mechanic but have seen a few lock up tight and it has usually been from the engine running to lean on fuel

Yup, my Eskimo says to use 25:1 ratio, instead of the 50:1 ratio that most 2 strokes use.

I always say its better to see some smoke than none at all with 2 stroke motors, but it could have been something else to hope you get it fixed quickly there's fish to be caught.

My Jiffy is an older model (20 yrs. old) and has a 24:1 fuel mixture still runs like a top. I run some Stabil thru it at end of season, drain fuel tank, pop the plug, shoot some 30 WT. oil in the cylinder spin it over, install plug and good to go. I replace the plug every couple years. Only complaint I have is it is heavier than the newer augers.[cool]

That's good advice for me to follow at the end of the season--this is my first gas auger and I'd like it to last a while. I had the gas mixed at the recommended 40:1. Not sure what happened.
