I made my first stop in search of a 06' black tacoma at the Larry H. Millers Used Car Supermarket. Well there guy searched all of Larry H. Millers lots and finally found one. I told the dealer that I wanted to shop around more, but being the way they are he just wouldn't let me out the door. He eventually got me to buy.

I got home and immediatly searched autotrader.com to see how bad I got ripped off. And well I found the exact same truck same vin# for $2,200 cheaper than what I bought it for. I'm pissed as hell about this. I've been contacted them, and the man i've been talking to says he's trying real hard to convince the boss man. And well the boss man can go to hell if he isn't going to cough it up.

I know i'm an idiot but, I would feel better about myself if at least one person reading this stay's away from any of larry h. millers car lots.

Take the truck back right now. Park it in the lot, go inside and start telling everyone you see that you got ripped off and how. Bring the add with you to show them.

Oh, it's a Tacoma, your feeling the karma for not buying American.

I could be mistaken but I think you have something like a 72 hour right of recission (sp?) on automobile purchases. What that means is that you've got 72 hours in which to take the vehicle back & the whole deal is off. The ripoff artists can't do a damn thing about it no matter what they may try to tell you.
Oh, it's a Tacoma, your feeling the karma for not buying American.
I bet that truck was made here, just by a company that is owned in Japan. 'American' cars these days are practically all made in Mexico. The Japanese cars are made (assembled at least) here most of the time.

I'd rather buy quality than pay for 'American' that is lower quality and support the companies whose my tax dollars are already 'bailing out'.

[cool] Sorry for the rant. I love Toyotas and Hondas. [cool]

I kinda had a bad gut feeling not buying the american made. But I convinced myself in my head it was assembled in america.

Geezer you hit it right on the head with that number. Only problem is I wish I had acted on it two weeks ago. Thanks for chiming in though.

I'd still take the ad back in and start a yelling match cause that alot of dough. And they are the ones who offered it for a lower price. Its LHM they have done this crap to plenty of people. I'd be willing to bet if you go in talking loud enough for other customers to hear you, they'd kindly give it back.

RARELY will you get a deal from a car lot that cannot be beaten by just using autotrader or KSL. I NEVER buy from a lot. And I NEVER will.

couple rules on car buying I follow
1. Never buy on less than 48hrs of thinking it over. This gives you time to compare prices and anything else you need to.
2. Never buy New.
3. Never buy from a lot.
If you are patient enough, you will find the exact car you want from a civilian. As an added bonus, you don't have to pay "Dealer Fees". You just fill out a Bill Of Sale. The dealer price costs you twice.. You paid too much for the vehicle, then when you go to register it.. You pay that much extra on the STUPID sales tax for the vehicle.

If I told you I have a mutual fund that you can buy for 10K and told you that in 3 yrs it would be worth 6K would you buy it? Probably not, .. but it's the same thing with cars. So, we need to cut our losses where we can. I hate buying cars!

Motor Trend 2009 Truck of the Year.... Ford, F-150.

Assembled in Kansas City, USA

There it is, Ford, better than Honda, better than Toyota, better than Nissan.

#1 I thought I had it well covered. I actually got an ok deal but like ratstar said thats a lot of money.

#2 Is a great rule. The second you buy the dam thing it's used. You most likely get the same year still looking brand new for $10,000 cheaper.

#3 Truely noted I never will again

Also the patience is a must. But I was impatient. I wanted some sweet wheels for my next journey to the gorge. Which happened to be the bash, and the clock was ticking.[crazy]

I hate buying cars too! It seems like a dam game

It is a game.

You had it right in that you knew what you were looking for. You just needed to get several car dealerships bidding for you to buy it from them.

Play the game. Take the truck to the LM lot and start talking to customers. Start telling customers what happened to you. Take it in for an oil change, spend the hour in the lobby and lounge , telling people what happened.

If they confront you, inform them that you plan to continue to do this for as long as you own the truck, couple of hundred thousand miles anyway.

Write to Larry himself, after all "you know this guy" tell him what happened. Explain to him that now that he is co-chair of a committee on ethics he may want to set an example of what is ethical and what is not.

you better take it back now. make shure you meet the manager and have the wife video tape the whole process while you tell him time day and why you are returning it. if you can get it done you will be lucky. see i have been in the car buis for 25 plus yrs. there is no right of recention in utah no lemmon law on used cars at all. if you sighned an as is agreement you may bee stuck. i left the best paying job ive ever had becaulse of those games. buy from a whole sale dealer. see we save you alot bs.

It sucks you've been treated in such a manner by such a fine out standing business..
Just a thought,, but turn around it fair play, right. How's about posting a sign in the back window of the truck declaring the rip off by a L.H. Miller car lot,, and where the car lot is located.. Drive around with the sign in place for a few months,, or better yet, park the truck close to the lot on Saturdays.

Bank on it that I'd be one person you can depend on NOT shopping at a Larry H. Miller dealer ship.

I feel your pain. I haven't ever bought a vehicle from a dealer where I didn't feel like I got screwed to death. I hate to buy vehicles.
I told the dealer that I wanted to shop around more, but being the way they are he just wouldn't let me out the door. He eventually got me to buy. .
[shocked] Did they put a gun to your head, or handcuff you, or take your keys? I'd file abduction or false imprisonment charges immediately. Sounds like you were forced to do something against your will. Certainly this was a criminal action. [laugh][laugh]

Seroiously, if you can't walk out the door and stand up for yourself against some little pitiful car salesman, you should not be buying a car. Period. Hire a buyer or broker to buy a car for you, or send your wife.

You signed the deal. I don't know you, but I assume you're of adult age, and legally capeable of signing a binding contract? If so, chalk it up to learning another life lesson. Do your homework. Name your price, don't let a salesman tell you. You tell them. There's plenty of people and places to buy cars, or anything else. Be a smarter consumer. If its not the deal for you, walk out. If they stop you, call 911 and you might end up with several cars for free!

Buyer beware!!!!!!!!

2200 is a nice size of coin but if you put things in perspective you may have gotten a decent deal even a good deal.

First off I want to say Im not a car sales and I do in fact hate buying from dealer lots but some time you do get a deal from the bigger lots over some of the smaller.

Some of those ads you see in auto trader & in the paper are just to get you in the door. Dealers will re-run ads over and over again because of the initial response they got. It gets you to pay attention to there lot & come looking for that unicorn.

Toyota's have one of the highest resell values and the lowest cost of ownerships my Toyota's went for 550k miles with just regular maintenance before it broke down cant say that for the explorer we owned that the tranny fell out at 120K.

If anything ask for the sales manager let him know of your disatifaction and see if hell negotiate with you you may get lifetime of oil changes or something...

Jim Jim Jim I know you know how to run your mouth to people and I'm pretty sure you would not have been pushed around.

I stated earlier car buying is a game and the dealer won. I was hell bent on walking in there straight stoned faced. But he got me! You're right lesson learned, I am younger and it was my time to learn another life lesson.

Just know the next time the dealer will be eating crab grass before I walk out.

[#000000]You can say that again. Every part of of the Ford F-Series Super Duty and F-150 is made in USA. Well, some of the transmissions are out of Ontario, Canada but nothing is Mexican, Chinese, or whereelse. [/#000000]
[#000000][/#000000]
[#000000]If anybody wants a good truck deal here is how you do it. You gotta start back at the basic level I am telling you. No fancy speakers, seats, players, or anything. That is where they get you these "automakers." [/#000000]
[#000000][/#000000]
[#000000]If you know how to play it LHM will give you a great deal. 5 years ago they got this new shipment of Honday SUVs at the Murray dealer and had 3 CR-Vs there needed to be sold. I went in and talked bs about this and that. Well, I got a brand new CR-V that was $22,600 for $18,360. That was cheaper than the Ford Escape (looked at one for around $19000) and the GMC models, but I don't like GMC. In fact, Ford sold many engines to Honda back in the post WWII days. Only buy Ford for trucks.[Smile][/#000000]
