I HIT STRAWBERRY SATURDAY MORNING. i WAS A LITTLE LATE GETTING UP THERE. I ARRIVED AT THE MARINA AT 10 AM. DID THEY START A NEW CITY UP THERE? WOW WAS IT PACKED. GOT ON THE SNOW MOBILE AND HEADED FOR THE NARROWS. IT WAS 10.30 BEFORE I GOT A HOLE DRILLED AND A POLE IN THE WATER. PULLED OUT A 20 INCHER RIGHT OFF THE BAT. GOT THE TENT SETUP AND FISH FINDER IN THE WATER. GRAPHED FISH ON THE BOTTOM. cAUGHT EVERYONE THAT CAME BY ON THE FINDER. I ICED 15 FISHN IN ABOUT AN HOUR. SOME WHERE NICE AND FAT BUT MOST OF THEM WHERE SKINNY. LOTGS OF FUN TO PULL IN BUT ALL WHERE IN THE SLOT LIMIT. i SURE WISH THEYED CHANGE THE SLOT LIMIT SO WE COULD EAT SOME OF THE TASTY CUTS. BY NOON THE FISHING SLOWED AND AT ONE I LEFT THANK GOD IT APPARENTLY GOT PRETTY CRAPPY AFTER THAT.
GOOD FISHING TO ALL

Wow you had a great spot.I guess the best thing is to get away from the crowds. I know just before you get to narrows there are some great spots on both ends.Hopefully it freezes back up soon.

I COULD SURE USE SOME SOLID ICE FOR A CHANGE. THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND US AND WE HAD A GOOD SPOT BUT I THINK FINDING FISH IS THE HARDEST PART ABOUT FISHING THE BERRY ONCE U FIND EM THEY WILL USUALLY HIT
MY 2 CENTS

We(5) unloaded at Soldier Creek about 0730. There was a lot of fog so we stayed close to the east shore and headed for the Dam. Ice was only about 10". Only caught a few there and decided to head into the Narrows about 1030. Fishing was better (5-6 each) until 200PM. One was sitting right on the honey spot and landed 12 including a keeper. Ice was only about 10" there also. We headed back about 300 and got caught in the snow storm.
We must have crossed a dozen areas that was nothing but 3-4 inches of water. The rest was either 3-4 inches of slush or bare ice. I'm surprised at how thin the ice is this time of year. After reading the other post about Strawberry Rumors, I may wait another week before returning.

I know what happened to the 12 -18 inch ice.
seems 8-10 is more the range this year.
