First of all hi!
I just stumbled across this site today and am very impressed with it so far.
I want to bring my dad on his first ice fishing trip this year and I would like to do it this weekend if possible. The only problem is that there were a couple of posts that I read about Ice on OC and Piute being a little sketchy (well, at least around the edges) Just wondering if someone could give me a reasonable update on ice and fishing conditions on these two waters. It would be greatly appreciated.

Was down there yesterday, like you mentioned ice is a little tricky around the edges as the lake has risen quite a bit. Not bad to walk on to it but a wheeler may be a different story. Ice in the dam area is around 12 - 15". We fished the dam area and did pretty good fishing was slow but we did limit biggest was a nice 4 lb'er. Fish seemed to be hanging just under the ice 4 or 5 feet down. Good luck but be careful.
