Has anyone had good success ice fishing anywhere in Southern Utah lately? I am new to ice fishing and for my first trip of the year, I got skunked at Panguitch on Sunday. I was pretty excited for the ice to come, but now that it's here, I'm a little disappointed. It seems like most reports I've heard recently from Panguitch, Piute, Otter Creek, Minersville, and any other nearby lakes are all pretty slow.

Has anyone had different success from what I've been hearing? I want to head out again this weekend but I really don't have any idea where to go to give myself the best chance of catching some fish.

Any suggestions on where to go and what to use would be great! Please keep in mind that I don't have 4-wheel drive so getting to lakes in which access is a little iffy might be tough for me.

Thanks guys!

A guy I work with went to piute on monday and did really well Him his wife and 4 kids went down and got to the lake at about 9:30. With all the reports down here of people going in the drink his wife was having nothing to do with going out but him and 2 of his sons went out and limited out within 1 hr and was on their way home. He said the smallest fish they caught was 15 inches

Hey, thanks for the info!

What's weird is that it seems like every report I've heard from Piute this ice year, the fishing has either been really good or really slow...not much in between.

Maybe I'll hit it this Sunday and see what happens. I've never caught a fish through the ice (I've only been twice) and I have yet to catch a fish in 2009 (only 1 trip so far). Hopefully both of those streaks come to an end this weekend.

I have fished Otter Creek, Piute, and Panguitch once each this year. I didn't do very good at any of them and have decided that Fish lake is worth the extra drive time to catch fish.
