Friday, 01/29/09- Hit the water at about 7:30pm. Dark, calm, cool, night. Tooled around Boulder Cove pulling a large trout-like lure. Alone on the water, a couple of lanterns on the shore. After a couple of laps, headed out to Hemmenway. Nothing. Stopped and cast for awhile. Nothing. Switched to rattling lure that dives down, started heading back to Boulder Cove. About half way there the reel started singing!

Hauled in a nice striper!

Circled around, got back on the same trail. Bingo! Another nice striper. Gotta love your GPS!

This one a little larger.

Made a couple more laps. Nothing. Off the water by 11:00pm. What a great time on the water.

P.S. Contents of stomach. YUCK! [:p]
Sweet!

Was that lure something like the the storm thunderstick? Looks like its fairly large. Nice fish.

Thanks for the information. I've really been wanting to go out night fishing. I think I've got enough confidence with my little boat and electronics that I'll do some pretty soon. Perhaps some night with a fairly full moon. =)

Hello BaySport,

Nice fish I love to troll the beach at night. I troll bommer long a's. If they can not see them I think they hone in on the sound.

Thanks, looks bigger than it is. My guess maybe six pounds. It was long and lean. The other was about four pounds.

Seems to work out better for me than casting from the shore. [Wink] No crowds to tangle with..... I was the only guy trolling the beach Friday night!

I agree, tried the soft plastic trout lure with no success. Most fish marked at around 12-15 feet deep in 20 feet of water. Needed something to trigger them. Thought a lure that dives three-six feet deep and rattles might do the trick. Sorry I'm rambling. Anyway, I'm still looking for a big striper.
