Arrived at Painted Rocks at 6:45 no fog crisp air temp at 18 degrees. One group ahead of us headed straight out from ramp to other side. They must have been doing good they were still there when we left at 1:00 drilled first hole at east end of the island on the north side. 12' no fish on sonar. moved west about 100 yards 23' with fish on finder. stayed for 3 hours caught 3 my son in law finally iced his first fish (out of 4 attempts in the past 2 years) a very fat 11" Perchie[cool]. Still slow we move west to the far side in 29' found targets cruising just off the bottom 1 hour, one bite moved again a little farther north, 26' fish on bottom again, stayed 2 hours caught one more nice one, had another on but he was very un-educated and came off half way up. left at 1:00 to get home for the big game. Could not have asked for a better weather day on the ice. t-shirt in the hut and very warm. Oh by the way I forgot to mention there were a few light bites, but the ones we caught and several others that we missed hit it very hard. Perch meat tipped with eggs and a meal worm for one fish the rest were caught on a ball of perch eggs I harvested 2 weeks ago[] They seemed to like that the best.[blush]
