My dad and uncle showed up tuesday morning at 7:00 am.We all ate big breakfast burritos stuffed with eggs, sausage, hash browns. What a way to start the day out.Every things loaded so we hook the boat up and leave.Get to the lake at head over to Rawlins sink Rapalas at 11:15.We only fish two down riggers off my boat so I have my dad and uncle start. We switch after a fisherman catches 10lbs of fish or someone catches a snag.Yes, you snag your off the pole Rapalas aren't cheap. That way everyone pays attention and works the rigger better. My dad catches the first two then my uncle catches the next one all 2-3lbs.Its 4:00 we only caught 3 fish and I haven't touched a pole yet.Thats okay because it was a great day,tee shirt weather most of day.I had to get my hands on a pole,so when my uncle went away from his pole to take a leak I drove in a little closer to shore and hooked him up.I told him to bad you should of been watching your pole.So we went back and got the snag loose, yes I got my Rapala back.Everyone was out of the water so I took us over to swim beach. We sank downriggers in 60 feet of water.Within 10 minutes We saw The first fish over there and it was a nice fish.Bam my pole starts dancing. The fights on I new it was a bigger fish I could feel his weight and he came straight under the boat then made four nice runs.I was wishing for 40lbs.Wishful thinking when I saw him I thought he was 30lbs.He ended up at 29lbs.That was okay it was a nice fish.We took a couple of pictures and let him go.It was getting close to sun down so we headed in.All the way in and on the way to the hotel I had a great time rubbing my uncle about how cool he was to let me catch his fish for him.His name all night was snag master.
Day two my dad and uncle was back on the poles. We fished swim beach again.Another nice day tee shirt time.It was around 11:00 and we hadn't seen very many fish they was hard to find.I went in to about 40 feet and saw 2 fish.Bam my uncles pole started dancing. He battled the fish to the boat and it was another nice fish it was 25lbs.He was happy, took a few pictures and let him go.Cool it was my turn again, but I was hoping that My dad was next.Sure enough 2:15 30 feet of water didn't even see a fish on the finder he sings fish on.Wow it was another good fish !! 4 or 5 nice runs right under the boat, pole bending hard again.Sweet !! 26lbs.Grabbed a few pictures then released.Three nice ones 80 lbs of fish everyone on the boat caught one.Fished the rest of the day nothing.
Day three, cold fished Linwood for a couple of hours saw 1 fish moved back over to swim saw 3 fish in 3 hours I could tell my dad and uncle was all in so we packed it up and headed for home.
All in all fish was hard to find.Saw most in 60 - 40 feet of water.About 1 out of 3 fish found hits and that not like macs.
My dad has grey hair,my uncle has red hat and the other guy must be me.

Looks like it was a clam trip with fish willing to play. It was about the same last week. Congrats on the catches. Hey next time try trolling with a short shanty rod just for chits and giggles but hold the rods. You learn the meaning of "wrist buster" when they hit[Wink]

Way ta,,,
[signature]
Sounds like you could be right." wrist buster" I only ice fish out of the boat.I saw a lot of it floating around.I'd have to lose about 250lbs and drop down to about 5lbs before I'd even think about jumping out of the boat on that ice.

Rapalas swim on under and around ice.

Way to go guys great job,
Nice looking fish ,
How fast was you running the boat?
And was you just running Rapalas also how far in back of the riggers?

[quote bigfishwanted] About 1 out of 3 fish found hits and that not like macs.[/quote]

Well done and that is the kind of wind conditions that I like to find when fishing in cold weather. Please expand on your quote above.

It was february. Its a great year for none ice fisherman.Last february same place had 6 inches or so of ice.

Rapalas catch fish any time of year.

Tuesday, wednesday was so nice that my uncle even pulled his shirt off for a while thinking he'd catch some rays.It was still a little early for sun bathing for me.Weatherman said Thursday was going to be a better day,he was wrong we never even saw the sun.It was double coat day.

Rapalas don't need a sun tan to look good.

During the winter months I like to run a little slower.Don't use a speed control on my boat. All I do is put the Rapala next to the boat and find a good action speed before I hook it to the downrigger. After I sink the ball I keep an eye on how far the rigger cable swings back so I can keep that speed....I like to put about 75 yards of line out so when I see a fish I have enough time to put my Rapala at the same level as the fish before it swims past him.It also gives you more time to get it out of the way of the bottom so you don't snag.

Rapalas hook fish so you can let them go.[fishin]

I've went threw 100's of fish at times without getting a
bite.During the spawn in Lucerne bay when you can walk across the bay from boat to boat its hard to get a fish to strike they must have something else on their mind.I can't blame them while I'm busy dodging boats the fish must be dodging a lot of downrigger balls, line and lures.Thats a great time to fish Wyoming if you want a lot of action.

I hope thats what you was asking for.

Rapalas don't have hope only action.
[signature]
Thanks, I wasn't sure if you thought that more or less macks typically bite.
[signature]
Sorry I missed one of your questions.Yes Rapalas only.I've tried a lot of other things.Needle fish, spoons, spinners, flat fish, flasher with a fish or squid, pop gear and a fish, bait, you name it.All them things can work, but Rapalas work best for me.

Rapala don't like second place.

[cool] Thanks for letting me off the hook.[cool]

Rapalas might speak with a fork Tongue but they sure swim well.
[signature]
