Hit the Rockcliff arm early hoping to find the Browns. Walked, drilled and walked some more. Finally about 9:00 I hooked up with a nice Brown. The third time that I got him to the hole, pop and he was gone. I guess my luck ran out. We fished till about 11:00 then walked off and headed to Heber for lunch. Food always helps. Decided to hit Deer Creek and see if we could get a few bows to go with the lone one we got at Jordanelle. Walked to the far side out from the island and within 1 1/2 hours we had our limit and were headed off. I think we did more walking than fishing, but I need the exercise. All the Bows at Deercreek were males and beautiful color. Sorry about the pictures but there's rain drops on the lens. It snowed, rained and the sun came out for a short time. Deer Creek is the place to go if you want Bows.

So wheres the spot on Deer Creek? Every time I go to the island there is to many people like a slalom course of jigs!

Looked like night crawlers under his chair on his right side. Maybe he was using those.

we walked across the lake to the railroad side and a little north to a point. we were in 15' to 25' of water. we caught fish on ratfinkeys, ice flies, northland forage fry all of them tipped with a piece of nightcrawler, or waxie. It is a 1/2 hour walk but we think it's worth it. we may go back tomorrow afternoon and stay for the night bite, we're always looking for walleyes.

I didnt think that he Ice thick enough to walk across. Did you check the ice in the middle? How thick was it on the other side? I would have gone that way a long time ago but I figured it was unsafe because of all the rain and sun. If you go tomorrow for walleye what would you use? I really have a burning desire to get one through the ice. Sorry bout all the Q's, got really exited when I saw the last post.

I'll be their tomorrow if the weather gives me a small chance to commute. I have camped out overnight on lakes before it is a blast. I thought I was the only one crazy enough to pitch a tent next to the ice shack. Maybe see ya their.

Way to go sewfish,
You had him , did he brake off ,or did he spit the hook? they get big up there, that is why I chase them at the nelle? Big Browns.
Good job, next time you will have to play him down a little more, you'll get him!!!!!
Great job thuo ,[Wink]

the brown actually spit the hook. it was the third time i had him to the hole, just couldn't get his head started up. plus, my lure was very tiny. we were actually fishing for the perch. i have caught two other browns through the ice at the nelle. thanks for the incouragement.

i spent the day at deer creek as well on friday. there are for sure a lot of hungry bows. i probably caught 20 in 4 hours or so. they seemed to like wax worms. all the larger fish i caught were female and the meat was a colorless pale white. i figured a 2.5-3lb bow would be good to eat, but it seems like the smaller guys (around 14 in) were the good eaters. i dont get it...anyway i wouldnt put a wheeler on the nelle and youd be pushin it at deer creek with how soft the edges are right now. the ice is good but the edges suck

about a 4 wheeler on deer creek. they are not allowed because it is a water shed. we decided to go back up today for the afternoon and it was hotter than yesterday. we walked over to our holes from yesterday and in about 3 1/2 hours of fishing iced over 40 fish. we released them all so no pictures but it's hot if you get away from the hords. the ice is still fine just a little water by the shore. they seemed to caught them on lots of lures and even the new berkley gulp red wigglers and waxies. if you want a day of catch and release, dc is the place.
