We hit Pineview this morning, we were on the ice by 6 am.
I took two neebies, one is a son in law and one was the friend of a son in law to be.
We went right out by the marina.
We only got a couple of bites. I picked up one crappie that was 14". Only the second crappie I have caught.
About 10 am we headed over to the narrows and went over to the south side and drilled holes from 46 feet to 8 feet.
Didn't see anything on the fish finder. Over at the marina there was fish coming through almost all of the time, but they wouldn't bite.
I finally found the hot hole at 33 feet and for a time every drop found a perch. Didn't always catch them, but they were hitting. I caught some of the fattest perch I have seen from Pineview, one was Yuba quality.
The newbies were struggling, one of them finally caught one, the other didn't catch a thing.
My son in law caught one, I baited the hook for him and showed him exactly what I was doing and he right one right away.
We caught every fish on meal worm and a dab of Power bait. If the PB was gone, they didn't hit.
It snowed on us all day. It snowed about 8 to 10 inches while we were there. It made it very difficult to ride the snowmobiles, as you could see a thing with all of the powder blowing around as you rode.
We left at 1 pm, the road was snow packed coming down the canyon. A little scary.
We get home and the sun is shining and is nice a warm. I couldn't believe how nice it was back in the valley.

Thanks. It was fun to catch.

That big crappie alone makes it as good as any day I've ever had on the ice! Last time I caught a 12 1/2" crappie, I yelled out loud. Good on ya!

Thanks.
Frozenover and I have tried to target the crappie for the last two years.
Last year year I couldn't catch a one. This year two.
We ate the perch and crappie today, I sure wish I could catch a mess of them.

Nice fish Jim. A crappie like that almost makes the trip by itself.

Thanks Brent. I was a kick to catch and even better to eat.
I went back today and caught 8 perch in 15 minutes.
No bites before and no bites after.

[#800000]What slush? I was there from about 8:30 until 3:30 and ran my snowmobile from the Port Ramp (PR) to Cemetery Point (CP) and back, fished in two different places, and found no slush at all in either place. At about 2:30, a couple of cross country skiers went from the CP to the PR with no trouble at all. Just curious as to where you found any slush.[/#800000]

We found heavy slush in the narrows and north side of cemetary point.
We also ran into spots running across the lake.
Here are a couple of pictures from the north side of cemetary point.
Every step the water would come up around your boots.
