We fished it today on the #2 pond and it was a little sketchy getting on the ice. Once on it it is only 1" of clear and 2" to 3" of soft crust. Once we drilled our holes(could have done it with a fork) the ice was constantly cracking and water coming out of the holes.
Fishing was marginal at best. Maybe 10 rainbows and 12 gills under 4" long.
As we got ready to leave and all got near the sled to pack it up, the ice really started to buckle. We backed away from each other and started walking back to the bank. Between the islands there was 3" of standing water. I took the lead and started across it. Half way across the ice started to fracture! My father and djremo had to waddle across to keep from falling through. The edge was just as bad and it was cracking with every step.
You are going to go for a swim if you try and get out there after today. Be very careful.[Wink]

I drove by there today, saw you guys and thought to my self, hmm............ I guess I'm really not as crazy as some people[shocked]. Should I dial 91 and wait for them to fall through before dialing the other 1?

I tied on an extra 10' of rope to the sled and put my spikes around my neck. Woulda been a cool dip in the tank but would have survived. That was pushing the envelope today. Never again[angelic]

I understand the passion of fishing but why put yourself at risk? Obviously you knew there was a risk.
"Woulda been a cool dip in the tank but would have survived."
I bet the last guy that died was thinking the same thing.

Sounds like a spooky trip. Even worse than the first outing at Company Pond!
