Presidents day- no work- so I hit Porcupine today with my son, brother, and friend. Arrived about 7:15, was able to drive all the way to the top of the dam. Road was snowpacked but passable. Fished just out from the dam about 100 yards or so. After about 15 minutes the fish started to come through. We saw alot of schools for about 2 hours, then it started to taper off. Most all the kokes we caught were small, some Cisco sized and couple around 10”. We ended up keeping 15 of the decent sized ones for dinners. My brother caught a 2-3lb rainbow and I caught a 20” brown. Most of the fish came through in the 40' range but there were some deeper like 60'. Stayed until about 1:30 and then we headed for home to fillet the fish. Ran into Smokepoles and another member (sorry forgot your name) and saw one more member hiking back to the truck- maybe TKB?

Nice job on the fish. You guys were in a great spot. I was just a little further south of you. That brown looked nice. I could hear the kid screaming when you were threatening to throw it back in.[
] That was pretty funny. That was you guys right? I guess I should have stopped by and said hello.

Always good to meet Fellow BFTers. As you noticed, we dug lots of holes all around but never got into any but a few small ones. Guess you got to get there for that early bite on days like today. Not sure if Kokes through the ice is the way to go for me [crazy]. Still, its always a nice drive to Porcupine, and we stopped to watch 6 nice bulls just north of Hyrum.
I went to Mantua after lunch. Got a bunch of small bluegills, but only two keepers. Wind picked up about 3 and was pretty miserable.

If the other member you saw was wearing a camo coat...walking from the cliffs on the south and pulling a black sled that was me!

Yep that was you that I saw. Did you do any good over by the cliffs?

I was the one who talked to you as you were unhooking the sucker fish at the dam[
] We only caught a couple of dink koke's over by the cliffs. Good to meet you.

It was good to meet you as well. Most of the fish we caught were dinks too (Cisco sized). We just kept the 10" dinks.
Hope that doesn't get me in trouble [sly]

Taking dinks out the there can only be good for the fishery as there seems to be an abundance of that year class.

You got that right, it could stand some more pressure. Hopefully I'll be able to help reduce the population somewhat Friday unless the snow is too deep.
