We just got back from a great day at Currant Creek. We lost track of how many we caught and we were the only ones at the lake. The road is plowed so getting in wasn't a problem. There is a lot of slush on the lake which made it impossible to go where we usually like to go so we stayed close to the dam. The wind also made it chilly untill we set up the ice hut. If you go take good boots, we were standing in water the whole day and the fish would swim around in the tent until we could steer them back down the holes. We used ice jigs tipped with wax worms or meal worms. The ice is very thick so take your power auger if you have one.

Other than the slush (which is a huge other) sounds like a good trip. How deep of water were you fishing and how large are the fish?

We were fishing in 42 feet and picked up most of the fish near the bottom and some at about 20 feet. The fish were in nice shape and were 16-14 inches on average.

Thanks for the report. Do you know if the road to CC is plowed on weekdays or just on weekends?

I'm not sure exactly when they plow it. It was plowed last Friday when we went in and the road grader showed up mid morning to do some more work even though it didn't need any.
