The wife and I fished Newton today. Got there about 9:00. Fished in about 31 feet of water. Lots of fish on the graph and took alot of teasing to get them to bite. Caught 7 between the two of us. Alot of people over there. Edges still good but could be bad in the next few days. Met Sewfish there and gave her a few pointers. It was nice to meet you. Beautiful perfect day for fishing.

Getting on the ice by the dam was real soft. My foot went through, luckily it was only up to my ankle. But with more warm weather it could definitely go down hill. I will agree, it was a beautiful day for fishing.

Nice to meet you. It's always good to run into BFT folks. We only caught 3 crappie and then went to Mantua to see how it was. The fishing was really slow, didn't even talk to anyone that had got into them. Beautiful day. Ice at Mantua is soft at the edges but there was wheelers on it. There is a layer of slush under about 3" of poor ice and some wheelers were having trouble.

I may try to make it up their tomorrow. Would you be willing to give me directions from the salt lake area. What baits seemed to produce more mealies or wax worms or just good olde nightcrawlers. Thanks

not sure if you want to go to Newton or Mantua but, go to the Utah Fishing Holes site. It's on the Utah Fishing Forum main sight. You scroll down past general sight. This sight has directions to almost anyplace you want to go. We have also tried Google, but it's not as good.

Fished Newton 2-6pm and ended up with 20 crappie, 2 bluegill, 4 perch, and 1 bass. The bite was slow. I had a spot that produced for me on Monday and that is where I caught the crappie tonight. Many people out but not a lot of catching. LC

I was using very small ice jigs maybe 1/2 " long tipped with a wax worm. I fished just up off the bottom. I went there to try to hook a tiger muskie but I wasn't paying attention when it came through on the graph and when I saw it it was too late.[frown]

I was there early but I should have just stayed in bed. Fished by myself north of the dam, and on the western side near that cove. Drilled a few holes (that ice is thick!) and saw some activity on the sonar, but couldn't even get a bite. Figured it was just lockjaw perch. Lots of folks around, so I kinda stayed clear hoping to get a Tiger, but no luck. Talk about a frustrating day! Left around 11:30 a.m.
But hey, the weather was nice!
