I was fishing down in Ogden, close to 17th st and the I-15, where the weber and ogden meet, before being channeled to Willard.(I think)
Well I was fishing the North side of the Weber/Ogden river and were watching people walk their dogs along a walking trail on the south side. Well right before dark, a cougar came trotting down the walking trail, at first I thought it was a lab that had been off his leash coming back through with his owners. As I got a better look, it was Cougar, right it in the middle of Ogden. I got to watch him stalk a couple ducks and move around into some brush. Probably 10 minutes in all and then he dissapeared and could not find him again.
I always thought they were more reclusive, he knew I was there and it seemed he could have cared less. First time I have ever seen one in such a populated area. Anyone else see one in that area?

i have never seen one period, aside from one someone shot. my old man used to tell TS and i they are smart buggers. they/it might have a concealed way of sneaking that far into town, and now that it knows the way might come down there alot for food. odd all of the dog scent doesent throw it off.

its odd the dogs dont pick up its sent, we were camping on the salmon river last week and had one come threw our camp at night and when i let my dog out in the morning i thought she was going to have a fit. Her hair stood up and she growled every time she would pass the tracks.

It was really weird, I had to keep telling myself what I was seeing. I would try and rationalize it, but I couldn't....I didn't want to post what I had seen, because I figured people would think I was crazy. If I hadn't been able to sit and stare at it for so long, I probably would have convinced myself it was a dog. But, curosity got the best of me and I wanted to know if this happens more than I thought.
Here is the link to google maps it should show were I was, the cat was on the other side walking along the river.

it probly wouldnt be a bad idea to call and report it. Maybe they have had missing pets in that area or other things.
About a year ago in Austin Tx my moms chihuhua was killed by coyotes, or what they figured to be anyway. The animal control came out and trapped for a month taking fox, coyotes, and coons away. I dont know that they would do that but if it saves someones dog or cat, or heaven forbit someones kid.

A friend told me today that there is a sign up the trail a ways that warns that a mountain lion has been sited in the area and to keep an eye out for it. If that is true, you are not the only one that has seen the cat.

Good to know, I was about to report the sighting after Jigs had recommended it, and I will probably stilll let them know when and where I had seen it. On another note does anyone do any good, fishing that stretch? It looks like it could hold some toads.
