I'm really surprised it took a full month for the new administration to tackle firearms restrictions. I really thought it would be the first agenda item. (maybe it was!)

A bill aimed at restricting the purchase and possession of all handguns and semi-auto rifles. First they locate them, then they take them.

I read that this was attached to the big stimulus package that was signed by the President in Denver last week. Here we go I guess.

I heard that too, but so far I have been unable to verify that. I sure hope not. The good thing is that they don't have enough jails to hold all of us gunowners!!!!

The status of the bill on the link states that it's still in committee, and has not been signed by the Pres. That could be wrong.

Make no mistake, it will happen. Dem's have total power right now, and Obama is the most anti-gun president we've had in some time.

This is good for the economy. Everyone gets paranoid and goes out and buys guns[Wink]. Rep Rush of IL is the sole sponsor- I doubt it'll make it out of committee to ever get voted on. I don't like it as it sounds almost as bad as current and proposed laws in Utah to register and monitor who buys a drink[crazy].

This bill fortunately DID not make it into the "Crapulus" bill.

I hope this bill will be stuck in committee for at least the next two years. Hopefully by then our country might wake up and throw out all of these Anti-Constitution idiots we have running this country.

As for the Utah Liquor Laws, they are very archaic. But at least they are not wanting to give our sovereignty to the UN, when it comes to how we raise our kids and criticize religion.

So on the news today they actually said that Obama wants to bring back an old assault weapon ban. I'm surprised he actually took this long to come out and say that. We all knew he wanted to do something for a while. Utah's Jim Matheson (D) commented on that saying since the old ban expired the crime rate has not increased at all so we know that didn't work to fix the crime rate.
Hopefully more of the represenatives will listen to that reasoning and follow suit.
I still get a kick out of how he sells the thing as an "assault weapon" ban. In his mind if it fires anything it's an "assault weapon".
