I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I figured I'd get the most feedback from here.
I'm deciding on a new spinning reel and I usually buy Shimanos in the 60 to 80 dollar range and have great performance.
But my problem is what size should I be buying. Most of my fishing consists of fishing for bass.
So check out this reel and tell me what you think.

I used to buy the Sedona 2000, but now it seems they only have the Sedona 1000 and the 2500. The problem is sometimes the 2500 looks to big, but at the same time I think its my best choice.
Any suggestions??

I still fish with a 2000 size Stradic that was manufactured in 1983. It is a fine reel and the size was fine for up to six pound line. The 2500 fishes up to ten pound very nice. The big difference is spool size. The 2500 has quite a bit bigger spool. If you can any way pull it off try to step up to the Stradic or equivalent quality reel. These reels are way better for only half again more dollars. I would recommend spending more money on fewer reels and not waste money on stuff you will never use or won't serve your purpose. 'Consult the experts before making an important decision' has been one of the most important things I've ever learned. You may be wise beyond your years.
Check out the reel on the bottom picture . I drilled it out for my dad for Christmas. I borrowed it from him for cast off the dock and nailed this bass on six pound, right off the boat dock. That's a Stradic 2000 right there, as is the one on the top pic. I drilled out my Diawa 2500 and Shimano 2000 with the same large hole pattern so they would look similar for a tourny. Anything to get an edge I guess.. The 2500 Stradic and the 2500 Diawa Emblem are exactly the same size and weight.

That's interesting with the drilling of the holes. I've never really seen that. Is there a reason for that, ha I don't know if i caught that or not.

And when you say up to 6 or 10 pound test; when I use those reels I'm usually putting 20 to 30 pound line in some kind of braid whether it be fireline or some superbraid.

I got Bacterial pnemonia sucking down deer crap dust in the Florida Keys. It put me down for 9 months. I couldn't do much so when I could finally get up and around I puttered around in my machine shop. I drilled out alot of reels. After seeing my reels now all the manufacturers do it. It's just for looks, although some of the reels have the owners names drilled into their reels. I was charging around $50.00 a reel until I finally got back to work. As for braid, I use it for heavy work at the Colorado river because you never know when a Flathead will suck up your jig while pitchin'. All the lakes around my house are deep and crystal clear hence the mono. Or Flouro. Looks like braid on this reel, must have just got back from the river...
