Went up to the Black the other day, got there late afternoon and fished some of the stretches above the retention dam. Fishing was excellent, caught about 15 trout in a few hours. Most were on the surface, had some luck with a gray CDC parachute size 16, then I switched to a double renegade pattern I tied up and that was the key, it seemed like every cast a fish either took a look at it or sucked it in. Then I had to re-tie a new tippet on, but the bad thing was that as I spooled it out there was only about 12" left. So all I could do was sit there and watch these fish rise in front of me, and I think I heard a few of them laughing at me because I couldn't fish anymore...damn them trout some times...but any ways if you want some good action give the Black a try. Also, the salmonfly hatch is beginning I saw/crushed a few with my windshield driving down the canyon. It woiuld be safe to say the Salmonfly should be in full force for the next week or so. If anyone else heads up there let us know how it was and where you went(mile marker area).

have a good one...Barbless
